EEG (Electroencephalography)

My doctor ordered an EEG. What is that?

Electroencephalography is a noninvasive, non painful test to measure and evaluate brain waves.

In preparation it is preferable to be sleep deprived prior to the test. Please have your hair washed and scalp clean. Also try not to use a lotiony or greasy hair conditioner. That way the electrodes can apply easily to the scalp and the test will go more quickly.

EEG testing aids in the diagnosis of seizures and confusion. Indications may also include head injury, concussion, fainting, and other neurological spells.

The test should last right at one hour from check in to the completion of the test. At a local hospital it my take half a day to get the test done.
